On Saturday, January 19th, 2013 I attended the Hattie’s 12th Annual Mardi Gras event at the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs, NY.  I had such a wonderful time, it was a festive evening filled with delicious cuisine, costumes, live music, and dancing.

The Opera Saratoga put forth a wonderful performance on Sunday night to help the Albany County Historical Association celebrate their 70th Anniversary.  The beautiful and 214-year-old historic Ten Broeck Mansion was decorated with holiday cheer.

Singers Deborah Rocco (soprano), Sarah-Nicole Ruddy (mezzo soprano), Charles Martin (bass), and Curtis Tucker (tenor and emcee) filled the mansion with their beautiful voices while Michael Clement  played elegant music on the piano.

The Italian American Heritage Foundation and CDPHP presents: An Afternoon with David Righeschi was a wondelful way to spend an afternoon in Troy, NY.

David Righeschi, an award winning Tenor gave a magnificent performance.  He was joined by the lovely Soprano April Joy Gutierrez and the show included a guest appearance by the Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra.

On Friday night I was honored to be the event photographer for “Salute Italia – Vino, Pasta e Bel Canto!”.  Salute Italia was an enjoyable evening at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom presented by the American Italian Heritage Association & Museum, the Opera Saratoga and the Friends of Opera Saratoga.

I really enjoyed my time as I photographed the singers and all the guests that attended.  I’ve never been to an opera performance before, for me this was a real treat, both singers were truly blessed with angelic voices.

Early in the race, Street Life ridden by Jose Lezcano sustained a minor injury, but I recently read news reports that the damage is not career ending.

The 2012 Travers was such an exciting race, for the first time in 138 years the race finished in a tie for the win.  The longshot, Golden Ticket and the favorite, Alpha finished in a dead heat, what an amazing race!

Once again I visited Cotton Hill Farm, one of my favorite places in upstate NY and home of Windhorse Thoroughbreds.

Owners Patty and John take such great care of all the residents at Cotton Hill Farm and it seems like they are always adding new additions.  The most recent newcomers include new horses, goats and chicks too.

It was a beautiful day, I truly enjoyed taking photos in this wonderful environment among good company.

On Friday, June 8th I was invited to cover a performance at the Northeast Ballet Company’s studio location on Regent street in Saratoga Springs.

This was an intimate performance for a small audience and a great opportunity to make memorable photographs.  The studio was well lit by several large skylights providing beautiful, even lighting.  As subjects, the dancers were a pleasure to photograph.  They were so obviously well trained, their skills and dedication shone through their graceful movements.

Artistic Director Darlene Myers introduced every dance, and afterwards interviewed the dancers to help the audience gain insight into what comprises each performance.  I truly enjoyed this event and I’m honored that they requested my services.

The School of the Arts Showcase was held at Litttle Theater in SPAC on June 2nd and 3rd.  As official photographer I attended the dress rehearsal on Friday night and covered the Showcase event on Saturday.

These dancers were amazing!  It was such an enjoyable show, they performed a wide variety of dances from Hip-Hop to Contemporary, Ballet, and even Belly Dancing.

Hats off to Director Raul Martinez for making such a wonderful event and to the dancers and choreographers for their passionate work.

We shot almost 7,000 photographs between Friday and Saturday, this gallery is just the first batch.  Stay tuned as more images will be added!

Dressage, sometimes referred to as “Horse Ballet” is considered by some to be the highest expression of horse training.  The horse and rider are very in tune with each other and the horse responds to very minimal input.  It almost appears effortless for the rider.

I am so impressed with the abilities demonstrated by these skilled competitors.
