On Thursday May 24th I traveled to Long Island to watch my horse, Mischief Maker race at Belmont Park. It was the fifth race and she won by over two lengths! Even though she was the favorite to win, I couldn’t be more proud of her and the team at Windhorse Thoroughbreds. Great job Patty!
On Saturday, May 5th, I visited the Saratoga Springs Horse Show. This event has been consistently running on an annual basis since 1960. It showcased jumpers, hunters, and equitation classes in three unique rings.
I had a wonderful time and the weather was lovely. I was so impressed by the skilled control of these young riders!
On Sunday, April 29th I was invited to cover an event at the National Museum of Dance. This event, called “Greek Day” included performances of traditional greek dances, dance lessons, traditional costumes, and Greek food provided by Cypriana Catering.
Evan Euripidou, owner of Anthology Studio in Schenectady, NY lead the dances and shared his knowledge of Greek dance and music.
Susan Edwards and Director Donna Skiff organized the event and I must say they did a wonderful job. Everyone in attendance had a wonderful time.
The food provided by Chris Euripidou was delicious and had that authentic Greek flavor.
I was excited this morning as I got up early to go see my horse workout at the Oklahoma Track in Saratoga! Her name is Mischief Maker and she’s a beautiful three year old filly.
Jennifer Robinson was the rider giving Mischief her morning workout, she is excellent with the horses and you can tell she is a true professional.
On Sunday, I visited the Saratoga Casino and Raceway to spend an afternoon watching the horses. The weather was warm, and the lighting was less harsh thanks to the overcast skies.
I especially enjoy the slightly comical appearance of the “ear bonnets” worn by some of the horses. These bonnets are helpful with keeping bugs out of the horse’s ears and also helping to reduce noise for easily distracted horses.
This weekend I had the opportunity to photography a beautiful family outside their home. The family dog, once a rescue pet, was so well behaved and obedient. He sat and looked straight at the camera for almost every frame.
On Sunday I drove out to my favorite horse farm in Middleburgh, NY. The weather couldn’t have been any nicer and I really enjoyed my visit. Windhorse Thoroughbreds has gained several new residents since my last visit. I was happy to meet and photograph them all.
Last Friday I had the opportunity to photograph some local business owners that needed new portraits for their website. It was an enjoyable photo session and we all had some laughs.
In addition to web-sized images for their website, I also produced some nice prints for them to take home to their families.

As a longtime patron of the famous Saratoga Race Course, regular at the Saratoga Polo Association, and now a licensed thoroughbred owner, there is nothing I enjoy more than equine photography.
It doesn’t matter to me if I’m shooting sports at the Polo Club, racehorses at the track, or a private photo session for a local horse owner, for me it is a pure joy.
Horses are massive, powerful creatures, but they possess a beauty and grace like none other. When reviewing my files at the end of a long day’s photo-shoot all I can do is smile.
